6. Shiny Hair: To add some shine to your hair, mix 1 teaspoon of honey, a squeeze of fresh lemon, and 1 quart of warm water. Shampoo your hair as usual and then pour the honey mixture on your hair. Allow your hair to dry as normal. You do not have to rinse out the honey mixture.


7. Hair conditioner: For healthy hair and scalp, combine ½ cup of honey and 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Saturate your hair with the honey mixture, put on a shower cap and allow it to remain on hair for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, shampoo and rinse your hair as you normally do.


8. Skin toner: To firm, smooth, and moisturize your skin, combine 1 peeled, cored apple with 1 tablespoon of honey in a blender. Pulse honey mixture until smooth. Gently apply honey mixture on face and allow it to remain for 15 minutes. Rinse your face with warm water to remove the honey mixture.

Is your skin colour warm or cool?

Most hair colours fall into either ‘categories’. According to beautician Shahnaz Hussain, “cleansing the skin at night, before bedtime, is very important, not only to remove make-up but also dirt, pollutants, sweat deposits and other impurities. At night, the pores should be left free to breathe. The skin should not be smothered with heavy make-up or cream during the night while sleeping as the body’s repair and restoration work takes place at that time.
This includes the renewal of skin cells. The youth of the skin depends on an efficient cell renewal process. So, the skin should be left clean while this process goes on.”

Hema Pant, another skin specialist, voiced a similar opinion. “The coloured cosmetics that are used can cause contact allergies. Therefore, the skin should be left free at night so that it can breathe.” Using make-up for an entire day aggravates premature skin aging, she added.

Although celebs and television actors do influence many women, Shahnaz feels that “many viewers are wise enough to realize that heavy make-up is only part of the glamorous world of television and movies.”

Gunjan Walia, a TV actress, went to the extent of saying that soap directors should be “a little more realistic” in their portrayals. Less glamour should be associated with night scenes without oodles of make-up and jewellery, she added. The extent of make-up should also depend on how photogenic a person is, Gunjan added.

How To Avoid Under-Eye Dark Circles



Under-eye circles may be one of the first things you see when you look in the mirror. These black or dark circles under the eyes can be caused by many different factors, including heredity, sun exposure, allergies, lack of sleep, medications, poor nutrition, age, and hormonal changes associated with pregnancy and menstruation.


The skin under the eye is very thin, and when blood passes through the veins close to the surface of the skin, this can cast a bluish/blackish shadow to the under eye skin. Any increase in blood flow will cause the areas under the eyes to appear darker.


While heredity can be one factor for development of under eye circles, sun exposure is another. Even though tanning may make your whole body look good, it’s not good for the skin under the eyes. Too much sun can cause excessive pigmentation of the area beneath the eyes, resulting in dark spots.


Allergies are another factor that can lead to dark circles. Any skin or respiratory condition which has you rubbing or wiping your eyes will trigger increased blood flow. More blood flow to the sensitive under-eye area means a greater likelihood of dark circles.


Certain medications can cause dark circles, especially those medications which lead to blood vessel dilation. Hormonal changes associated with pregnancy and menstruation may change the color and texture of the skin, resulting in a greater appearance of under eye circles.


While all these factors can play a role in the development of dark circles under your eyes, the two most common culprits are lack of adequate nutrition and lack of enough sleep.


People with diets low in vitamins C and E (antioxidants), low in lutein, beta carotene, and zinc are likely to have dark circles. You can combat this by adding in more fruits and vegetables to your diet.


People who don’t get enough sleep are also prone to under eye circles. This can be addressed most easily by a better sleep routine. It’s best, too, to sleep on your back with your head slightly elevated for the best results.

Treating under eye circles can take some time, but here are some suggestions for doing so:

1- Get proper nutrition.

2- Get enough sleep.

3- Avoid frequent rubbing or wiping of your eyes.

4- Use a cosmetic concealing stick to hide the circles.

5- Use an eye cream containing Vitamin K, which has been shown to reduce dark circles.

6- Protect your skin from the sun.
