Avoid Massages When You Have:
• a fever
• an infection or contagious disease
• a serious medical condition, such as cancer or heart disease
• bruising, acute inflammation, or swelling (edema)
• an open wound, skin infection or rash, or recent scar tissue
• sharp back pain
• leg problems such as enlarged varicose veins or phlebitis
• Lumps from an unknown cause
. . . and if you’re pregnant, check with your doctor to learn what type of massage is
safe for you.
